Joseph Rudyard Kipling, född 30 december 1865 i Bombay i Maharashtra, död 18 januari 1936 på Middlesex Hospital i London,[1] var en brittisk författare och poet, mest känd för sina skildringar av britternas kolonialvälde i Indien och sina berättelser för barn, särskilt boken Djungelboken. 1907 fick han Nobelpriset i litteratur som den förste brittiske pristagaren.
Kenneth Grahame, född 8 mars 1859 i Edinburgh, Skottland, död 6 juli 1932 i Pangbourne, Berkshire, var en brittisk författare, mest känd för den världsberömda barnboksklassikern Det susar i säven (The Wind in the Willows) från 1908, med klassiska illustrationer av Arthur Rackham.
Grahame arbetade först som banktjänsteman i många år innan han började ägna sig på heltid åt skrivandet. Han slog sig ner vid den lilla staden Pangbourne vid Themsens strand.
