Alexandre Dumas den äldre [1802—1870] var en fransk författare. Dumas var oerhört produktiv och skrev över 200 verk. Många av hans äventyrsromaner har blivit omistliga klassiker, däribland Greven av Monte Cristo, De tre musketörerna och Mannen med järnmasken. Grefvinnan de Monsoreau är en historisk roman från 1846.
