A fantastic book, by author Heather Dune Macadam and Simon Worrall! This book ties well together with the nonfiction book lcalled “999” also written by one of the same author, namely Heather Dune Macadam's who seemingly has a “calling” for writing books about extraordinary sensitive topics and have the ability to write with compassion empathy & she’s able to give all individuals in the book the honor all of the persons she writes about, her meticulously well crafted & detailed descriptions of each girl, & background is invaluable. Her willingness to take the time to establish f.ex. dates, communication btw the girls, timeline etc. is so important & greatly appreciated. “999” is a book that’s incredible impactful, painful & terrifying, yet such an important piece of the past history that’s been overlooked for the past 6-7 decades since the Holocaust. These two books ties are inevitable and are worth reading/listening to! The research is so powerful and well done and these two books should serve as mandatory reading for every pupil before they leave High-school! These two books present such a profound and a valuable lesson to a deeper understanding of what it’ was like to be sent to a concentration camp and/or a extermination camps especially for women, BARLEY women due to most of these early transports were as mentioned transports of teenage girls who were among the age of 14-18 years old when they and their families were lured to send their teenage daughters to work 3 months for the country……. I deeply believe and hope these books will make it into the pupils in high school! We all need to learn about our history, to understand our present and future! These books gives a deep insight to how inhumane the practice, and how degrading the Nazis method’s were and how many collaborators the Nazis managed to create no matter what country they occupied! It’s factual that the Nazis didn’t value human life at all!, but it’s not as factual to remember occupied countries regimes, and/or people in general who in countries like (remember please that the borders in 1939-1945 are very different to those of today, so when I mention a country I do not mean to point finger! My aim is to show that any human obviously is capable to change his/hers mind on what to me seems like changing moral compass on a sickening whim!) Anyway all over the world people who before the Nazis were as people are most suddenly changed their moral compasses, in Poland/France/ Denmark/Norway people were willing to assist the Nazis & acting as collaborator’s to them and sell out their own country & countrymen whilst in the middle of a burning war & occupation of their own homeland! Respectfully, Grace
