This volume contains some of the papers given at an international conference on the Syrian crisis in 2017 in the Accademia di studi-italo tedeschi, Merano. The contributors are Tea Antoniazzi, Hans-Christian GĂŒnther, Djavad Kashani, Ali Ashgar Mosleh, Francisco Muñoz Conde, Isabella Oldani, Riccardo Pozzo, Luigi Sammartino, Harro von Senger, Udo Steinbach und Vania Virgili.
Hans-Christian GĂŒnther is professor for classics at the Albert-Ludwigs-UniversitĂ€t Freiburg. He has widely published on Greek and Roman philosophy and literature, Byzantine and modern Greek studies. Recently he has been more and more interested in intercultural studies, ethics and international politics.
