After reading The Song of Songs, a short story by Sholem Aleichem, I was moved to see his original story from a different point of view. This short story retells his autobiographical tale from the point of view of the woman of that failed romance. The story examines the consequences taking our obsessions seriously and of not saying the things that must be said because we are not allowed to say them.
