Trent's Last Case is a classic Golden Age detective novel that parodies and redefines the genre. When financier Sigsbee Manderson is found shot dead at his country estate, the brilliant artist and detective Philip Trent is called in to investigate. What begins as a straightforward murder case quickly becomes a tangled web of love, jealousy, and unexpected twists.
Bentley's masterpiece created the template for the modern detective novel—where the detective is fallible, the culprit is sympathetic, and the solution is both surprising and inevitable. It's a witty, suspenseful mystery that will keep you guessing until the final page.

Super slow going, I had a difficult time getting through it. Most of the time it was just background noise while I waited for it to be over. The narrator became hard to listen to towards the end as his accent switched up. Probably should've DNF'd.
