Lee f’ing Burrows
The Kingsmen’s star quarterback.
Legendary throwing arm.
Six-pack abs.
Kissable lips.
Oh, but don’t forget, he’s also a lying, heartless egomaniac who broke my heart in college.
It took me years to build myself back up after his deceit, and now I have the dream opportunity to prove myself working as a sports therapist for a professional team.
The hurdle? Or mountain to be more accurate…
The job is with the San Francisco Kingsmen.
Back when I was a naïve college girl, I felt lucky that he even noticed me. Now eight years later, he’d be lucky if I gave him the time of day.
Which I won’t. Not ever.
Some people don’t deserve a second chance and Lee Burrows is one of them.
Now if someone could only tell him that because he’s hell-bent on scoring the winning touchdown and won’t accept that it’s game over for us.

Piper Rayne IS an excellent duo at writing smart, sweet and sexy romcoms with fun, feisty and often just a bit quirky (and often interconnected) characters. I adore several of their book series and recommend them often. Now with that said, -and sure, this one might be something new and “easy” aimed at hooking a younger audience - BUT… to me, this series starter just feels super naive and juvenile. Like REALLY naive, both in the portrayal of the MCs and the storyline, which has really good bones and could have been excellent. -The story isn’t just lacking in depth, it also uses lots of shortcuts and easy stereotyping for most character backgrounds, flaws and reactions instead of actually “showing” the character development in progress via flashbacks or similar techniques and letting the actions of the characters speak for themselves, which is disappointing. Another thing is the use of the 90’s staple, The OTT “grand gestures”, combined with unnecessary moping and waiting months to plan out these expensive and dumb gestures, instead of resolving issues with direct and actual communication. I must ad that YES I read the prequel and YES I usually enjoy this writing duos work. A LOT! There is a Prequels / prologue short “False Start” Connecting characters: Lee Burrows is the baby brother of Kane Burrows Goalie and later coach for the Florida Fury in Offside With #55 (ie #6 in Hockey Hotties Series)
