Amir, age eleven, is chased through several residential areas by a gang of bullies who are older than him.
He runs for his life and takes shelter in a knight’s castle inside a playground. He lays down on the ground and rolls under a board floor.
He thinks they’ll hit him hard, when and if they get hold of him.
And they carry a tennis racket, a baseball bat, and a croquet stick.
It will hurt. They will kill him.
He has previously dared to stick out his tongue to a couple of the bullies.
And now they want their revenge.
He has had to hide, even run away to his pretend cousins in Gothenburg and stay there with them for a semester.
But back home in Skövde, the bullies’ hatred and terror against him continues.
And now it may be out with him.
