Forty paintings and related poems by artist Frank OâCain. Frank OâCain is a noted instructor at the Art Students League of New York. His abstract paintings are inspired by his studies of nature, history, and music. His work and teaching carries on an approach to painting and seeing the world that comes down from Cezanne, through the work of Hans Hofmann and Hofmannâs student Vaclav Vytlacil, who OâCain studied with for many years. Now, Frank OâCainâs instruction has influenced the work of new generations of students. This book hopes to share many of Frank OâCainâs favorite paintings with those who have worked with him over the years.
