#1 The parable of the blind men and the elephant illustrates the fact that we can’t ever truly understand reality as a whole. We can only ever grasp some fragments of it, and none of us have a grasp on reality as a whole.

#2 All beliefs are approximations because the whole of reality is unknowable. Any scientist will tell you this. beliefs may have some truth to them, but all of us are fallible, and so are our beliefs.

#3 The obvious is not obvious. It is constructed, and we work together to construct it every day. We band together in obvious clubs that defend competing versions of reality.

#4 Your experience of reality is limited by the range of your experience. You will tend to focus your attention on those things that are most likely to meet your needs. Based on those things you notice, you will form theories and make judgments.
