Sample Book Insights:
#1 A man who is asleep and dreaming still has some awareness of the real world around him. This means that while he sleeps, his dream is the only form in which he can know and interpret the world that he inhabits.
#2 An absolutely convinced atheist is simply someone who has failed to notice something very obvious. Something can be extremely obvious but still be completely unintelligible to us if we lack the conceptual grammar required to interpret it.
#3 The separation between atheist and theistic discourse is not as great as it seems. The illiterate explorer may not understand the texts, but he still has the experience of existence itself.
#4 I am an atheist because I believe the case for God is stronger than the case for him not existing. I do not mean to be intellectually contemptible in saying this, but I do believe that if you understand what the actual philosophical definition of God is in most religious traditions, and if you understand what is logically entailed in denying that there is any God so defined, then you cannot reject the reality of God tout court without embracing an ultimate absurdity.
