#1 High blood pressure, or hypertension, is the second most common cause of death in the United States. It is typically asymptomatic, meaning no symptoms are shown, but some people with high blood pressure will experience symptoms, such as chest pain, dizziness, headaches, shortness of breath, palpitations, and heart and nose bleeds.
#2 Blood pressure is the measurement of the force of blood which pushes against the walls of the arteries. High blood pressure or hypertension is a medical condition in which the arteries are persistentl y subjected to an elevated blood pressure.
#3 Blood pressure is expressed as two numbers, the systolic pressure, which is the pressure your heart beats at, and the diastolic pressure, which is the pressure your heart rests at. Normal blood pressure is expressed as 120/80.
#4 Secondary causes of high blood pressure include but are not limited to: acromegaly, coarctation of the aorta, Conn's syndrome, Cushing's syndrome, hyperaldosteronism, hyperthyroidism, kidney disease, obesity, pheochromocytoma, and pregnancy.
