âThe kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.ââMark 1:15
These words naturally lead us to consider, First, the nature of true religion, here termed by our Lord, âthe kingdom of God,â which, saith he, âis at hand;â and, Secondly, the way thereto, which he points out in those words, âRepent ye, and believe the gospel.â
We are, First, to consider the nature of true religion, here termed by our Lord, âthe kingdom of God.â The same expression the great Apostle uses in his Epistle to the Romans, where he likewise explains his Lordâs words, saying, âThe kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.â (Rom. 14:17.)
