This text is a singular document which can help to understand a bit more about how the attitudes and the thinking of an average more or less open minded "patriotic"German merchant developed during his internment in the US, how he became radicalized and nasty. I can assure you, that my father, Stephan Scherer (1910 Ăť 2000) after the war became a friendly open-minded, liberal-thinking person again. So he would not have objected to the idea of publishing this text, written from May 1942 until February 1944, as learning material about the dangers of totalitarian thinking and antisemitism.
