In the Arena of Fate, death is always at stake.
Casioelda, Skornin of Morthoth, is forced to preside over an ancient and brutal ceremony in which men risk their lives attempting to guess her secret ability. She despises the system that binds her, but its rules are merciless—one wrong guess, and the candidate dies. But if someone guesses correctly, it is Casioelda who will face a nightmarish fate, one filled with blood and unimaginable pain. If no one succeeds, she will finally be free to choose the man she desires and live out the rest of her life in peace. Countless ceremonies have come and gone, and so far, Casioelda’s ability has proven almost impossible to uncover. She can only hope it stays that way...
