Rumpole

Rumpole's Last Case

The lively adventures and tongue-in-cheek commentary of Rumpole continue in this winsome collection of stories. Whether you already know this ingenious, exceedingly irreverent barrister or are meeting him for the first time, these delightful tales are sure to make you grin.

This time, seven cases of suspicious goings-on pass through chambers. Rumpole uses the refined tastes of a garage mechanic to defend slippery-fingered Snakelegs Timson from accusations that he filched a case of wine; stirs up a British Army court-martial when he indulges his knowledge of bloodstains; discovers an eager pupil in "Mizz" Liz Probert, who wants to follow in the irascible Bailey hack’s footsteps; and recalls several invigorating courtroom spars with his arch-foe, the Mad Bull (aka Judge Roger Bullingham).

But this time Rumpole’s antics may have pushed the Mad Bull too far. Will the venomous judge push him back—into retirement from the Old Bailey?
