The book ignores explanations of causes and important context on the geopolitical situations in which wars took place, especially post-1945. The early wars are a rehash of tales from the Old Testament. The central chapters speak of wars that are less well-known but are far too short compared to the Old Testament and post-1945 chapters. The last chapters are told from a fully Israeli perspective, complete with named examples of (quote) “heroic” Israeli soldiers getting military distinctions. The epilogue overwhelmingly shows the author’s personal bias and allegiance. One who will read this book with hopes to know more about why wars in the area took place, will receive close to nothing. All in all, an extremely disappointing book.
