By borrowing business methods from Mc Donald’s, writing science fiction and punishing its members did Hubbard lay the foundation for David Miscavige to tighten the reins and place himself at the throne during Hubbard’s many years on the run before his death. This is a well written book that covers the early years of what would become the Scientology church/movement/cult to the modern day hybrid of film stars thanking Scientology methods for saving their lives. It covers the dead of Lisa McPherson in detail and discusses the strong denial of the use of most methods of modern medicine, especially psychiatry. It’s a book about extreme violence often using sadistic methods applied on those not obeying the master and it is full of details for those who wondered where this powerful entity is heading today. What happened to Shelly Miscavige is anybody’s guess.
