Absolutely a must read! Must read in the same sense that “Anne Frank’s Diary” is almost an obligatory book for pupil’s in school! I think this book serves as a reference to everything that unfolded during the Nazis brutal occupation and regime of Europe and the Nazis together with, not all!, but certainly most people who lived in an occupied country, were the Nazis took control of their governments, most occupied countries, (no matter how involuntary some of the people/Gentiles were in these countries) I believe this story “999” needs to be told everywhere and be brought to schools to be studied and taught by the eldest pupils in the school (before they graduate & start their adult life’s! After all, with all due respect,, The Diary of Anne Frank” is often read by pupils between the ages of 10-13 Y/O and then my experience is that if a pupil doesn’t have any further interest” in learning about the WW2 in general and The Holocaust in particular the subject is not talked about further! Leaving this review January 4th, 2025 and due to how our world/the geopolitical situation of the world looks like now I believe it’s high time to take action against fascism and other forms of anti democratic ideology that is flourishing in our world of today! Making this book obligatory would be a great first step towards remember our past in order to restore our present , and our future! In November 1947, these words were uttered after the Nuremberg trials were over, namely: “Never Again”, however since then many never again have taken place! So in order to fulfil the promise of a “Never Again”, we’ll need to take responsibility to educate ourselves more about our SHARED history, no matter how we are, Gentiles, Jews, no matter what you subscribe to you are a human being and will die as a human being, so in the meantime I hope we’ll will act as such! Respectfully, Grace
