Dit boek is ontzettend vaak aangehaald in mijn studieloopbaan. Maar het boek gaat eigenlijk niet over "Understanding How Good People Turn Evil". Het boek gaat vooral lang (te lang) in op het beroemde Stanford Prison Experiment, waar Zimbardo de bedenker van was. Dit experiment is hét voorbeeld van hoe normale mensen door omstandigheden slecht kunnen handelen. Maar het is een voorbeeld, geen harde conclusie of uitkomst. Dr. Zimbardo gaat niet in op de zwaktes van zijn onderzoek, of op hoe we kunnen voorkomen dat mensen zich laten beïnvloeden tot het maken van slechte keuzes. Misschien stom, maar Zimbardo houdt voor mij, mede doordat hij nooit ingegaan is op kritiek op de opzet van het SPE, een beetje psychovibes.
