Complete and unabridged, with 20 full-page plates by Moritz von Schwind, Hubert Salentin and Peter Baumgartner. The Grimm household tales in Lucy Crane's translation, with Walter Crane's drawings: the frog prince, the elves and the shoemaker, the fisherman's wife, briar rose and the goose girl. This is the version that shaped the English nursery in the 1880s, made by a sister and brother, Lucy and Walter Crane. The translation keeps the spoken rhythm and does not soften the endings. Twenty paintings of village fairs, spinning rooms, bakers and children by Benjamin Vautier and Moritz Daniel Oppenheim, from 1787 to 1890, extend the tales into the everyday world they came from.
