Jeff VanderMeer (f. 1968) er prisvindende bestsellerforfatter og redaktør. Hans bøger er blevet oversat til 37 sprog og belønnet med flere priser. Han skriver desuden for bl.a. Washington Post, New York Times Book Review, Los Angeles Times og Guardian. Han voksede op på Fijiøerne og bor nu i Tallahassee i Florida.
I begyndelsen af 00’erne var VanderMeer med til at definere den litterære genre new weird med bl.a. fortællingerne fra den fiktive by Ambergris i et alternativt fremtidsunivers, som er beskrevet i bestselleren City of Saints and Madmen (2001). Hans hustru Ann VanderMeer var redaktør af magasinet Weird Tales, og sammen udgav de i 2008 den genredefinerende antologi The New Weird med bidrag fra de fleste af de forfattere, der kom til at tegne genren.
