A boy and a rich young man fit out a ship for the Antarctic in search of a treasure wreck, and find rivals on the same course. Stratemeyer wrote it in 1902, when the far south was still almost unvisited, and says in his preface that he wanted young readers to know how little was known. The ice and the sealers are done from the published expeditions.
