Complete and unabridged, with 40 full-page plates by Paul Falconer Poole, Nicolai Abildgaard and Johan Christian Dahl. The Ulster cycle told straight through - the boy who takes the name Hound of Culann, the training with Scathach, the cattle raid of Cooley and the death standing tied to a stone. Eleanor Hull was a Gaelic scholar and worked from the manuscripts rather than from earlier retellings. This edition binds forty plates of painting with the text, among them works by Horatio McCulloch, Sidney Richard Percy and Caspar David Friedrich, alongside fifteen illustrations restored and coloured for this volume.
