Complete and unabridged, with 55 full-page plates by Johan Christian Dahl, Henry Pether and Odilon Redon. Ethelda, youngest and dearest of the Moon's daughters, is betrothed to Dorion, son of the Sun, and claims the bride's traditional gift: a honeymoon on Earth. Her mother grants it with dread, and the journey becomes a chain of fairy tales — the caves of the ocean, fairies changed into mocking-birds, the rainbow sisters, a jewelled beach, a lost ocean — until the bride is carried off captive and the Sun Prince has to rescue her. Edith Ogden Harrison wrote original fairy tales for American children, and Lucy Fitch Perkins illustrated this one. Fifty-five plates of moonlit palaces, sea caves and celestial myth, from Henry Pether to Gustave Moreau, answer the tale's own journey from the ocean floor to the Sun Prince's rescue.
