À propos de ce livre

Complete and unabridged, with 56 full-page plates by Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Rowlandson and George Cruikshank. Ghost stories told at an English hunting dinner, Italian bandits, and the tale of the German student who marries a woman guillotined that morning. Irving published it in 1824 and the critics fell on it; it contains some of his best work and he never quite recovered his nerve as a storyteller. This edition is bound with a gallery of 56 plates, among them paintings by George Cruikshank, Thomas Rowlandson and John Thomson, ranging in date from 1807 to 1917.
