Kind of a letdown. Made me think of the “A copy of a copy is never quite as sharp as the original photo”-problem. And I’m saying this as a huge fan of the OG Gallo Family books -despite believing they were just another fun and flirty series of feel good HEAs I’d been reading (They were NOT - in the best ways!), I found this series to be a bit bland and not up to the standard of the previous ones. Sure they do border on swoon-central, but lack the sting and edge that I’ve come to expect. This one and its predecessors are somewhat angst-free, hot-sweet (and lacking in 3rd act break-up drama department), BUT that also makes them quite bland and flimsy, which is a definite disappointment . The follow through isn’t there and the foreshadowing and set ups just never payed off, it felt rushed or abridged. Narration was good but in dual not duet though.
