James Fenimore Cooper (1789–1851) oli yhdysvaltalainen kirjailija. Hänet tunnetaan erityisesti intiaanien elämää kuvaavasta "Nahkasukka"-kirjasarjasta, johon myös "Viimeinen mohikaani" kuuluu. Fenimore Cooper asui sukutilalla Otsego-järven rannalla New Yorkin osavaltiossa.
