Om den här boken

“Don’t Look Now” by Henry Kuttner takes a simple barroom conversation and turns it into something unsettling, funny, and brilliant. A talkative drunk claims that Martians secretly rule Earth, manipulating humanity through invisible control and subtle hypnosis. He says he can see them — and he says nobody else can. But when he finds a reporter willing to listen, the conversation slips into darker territory, raising questions about fear, paranoia, and what happens when the unbelievable turns out to be real.

This is Kuttner at his sharpest, blending humor with creeping tension and clever twists. The story explores invisible power, human obedience, and the strange comfort we find in pretending nothing is wrong. As the facts begin to line up, the reader starts to wonder how much of the madness is madness at all.

Henry Kuttner was one of the most imaginative writers of classic science fiction’s golden age. Known for his psychological insight and inventive plots, he worked under several pseudonyms and sometimes collaborated with his wife, C. L. Moore. Together and separately they helped shape modern science fiction and fantasy.

Kuttner’s stories appeared in legendary magazines and influenced generations of writers. His work blends humor, dread, and empathy, revealing how fragile the human mind can be when it brushes against the unknown. “Don’t Look Now” is a perfect example — clever, tense, and unforgettable.
