It truly is a well balanced sneaky slow burn, tongue in cheek banter vs grumpy silent treatment, get my foot-in-the door and I’ll stomp right in -attitude. Oh, and he’s a tatted up single dad of an amazing daughter. The non-relationship sparks and crackles between the MCs but the blazes do turn to genuine warmth that truly lasts. So IF YOU love this type of read… it’s a no-brainier 🤗 Really loved the premise and themes in this one. I totally submerged myself and binged the whole thing in a weekend. It does have a few tempo dips and a cringeworthy moment (or 5), but that doesn’t take away too much from the all over feel when listening straight through. That said, had I paused at the “wrong moment” or space it out a few days, I might not have gotten back to it, So stay open to sticking to it, because the momentum helps to keep it going and paying off. Just a thought. I have to mention the illustrated cover. It ties up the all around feel of this book so brilliantly. Every little thing about it comes through amazingly well by just glancing at it. The feel good vibe, the character dynamics, the atmosphere and of course the “everything stops when I’m focused on you and you on me”-vibe is just beautifully captivating. Love it so much, and the cover of her next in the series keeps up the vibe too. I strongly recommend a listen - in real-time. Don’t speed this up, it takes away from the genuine “slow-down your life and just be here for a while”-undertone. Mindful reading, in a way. And NO - the spice is left out in this one. However, it does have the feel of sparks and flames since the blazing “hate you - or do I” -vibe that frame the relationship. -No on page spice though -if that’s your jam.
