Bertram, however, offended by the inequality of the marriage, sets off for war, swearing he will not live with his wife until she can present him with a son, and with his own ring-two tasks which he believes impossible. William Shakespearen syntymäpäivästä ei ole säilynyt tarkkaa tietoa, mutta hänet kastettiin synnyinkaupungissaan Stratford-on-Avonissa 26.4.1564 oletettavasti muutaman päivän ikäisenä, ja hänen merkkipäivänään pidetään yleisesti huhtikuun 23:tta.
