1913. In a dark and dingy pub, standing on a table top soaked in beer and ale, John Jones - rogue and scoundrel - holds the crowd in the palm of his hands with stories of mischief and misdemeanours.

But when his son falls for the daughter of the local landowner, trouble isn't far behind...

Based on the notorious Welsh jailbreaker, poacher and thief nicknamed Coch Bach y Bala, and set with war looming on the horizon, Chris Ashworth-Bennion's play The Red Rogue of Bala is a hilarious, fast-paced comedy that tells a story of power, community and change. It is premiered at Theatr Clwyd, Mold, in 2025.
