Medeia

Medeia on barbaarinainen, jonka kanssa kreikkalainen Iason on perustanut perheen ja hankkinut lapsia. Kun Iason päättää naida kreikkalaisen prinsessa Glauken, Medeian raivolla ja pettymyksellä ei ole rajoja. Medeia päättää kostaa – ja tämä kosto tulee olemaan vertaansa vailla. Mutta milloin kostonhimo menee liian pitkälle? Lisääkö Medeia lopulta vain omaa kärsimystään?

Medeia on klassinen kreikkalainen tragedia. Sen kantaesitys oli vuonna 431 eaa.

Euripdes (480 eaa–406 eaa) eli antiikin Kreikassa ja kirjoitti tragedianäytelmiä. Hän on yksi tunnetuimpia antiikin kreikkalaiskirjailijoita. Hänet muistetaan erityisesti näytelmistä Medeia ja Troijan naiset.
