Founded in 1945, the United Nations is the world's foremost international organization — and one of its most debated. What does it actually do? How is it structured? And can it still deliver on its founding promise of peace and cooperation?
This book by Jean-Jacques Chevron offers a clear and rigorous overview of the UN: its origins, its main bodies — the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Secretariat — its specialized agencies such as UNESCO, UNICEF and the WHO, and the challenges it faces in today's world.
Translated into English by Elisabeth Belchamber. Part of the Les Collections du Citoyen series by NANE Éditions.
