Complete and unabridged. Frank, Fred and Doctor Bronson cross the Atlantic in company with Henry M. Stanley, and he takes them, chapter by chapter, through his great journey: from Zanzibar to Lake Victoria and King Mtesa's court, round Lake Tanganyika to Nyangwé, and then down the unknown river to the sea. Knox condensed it in 1887 from Stanley's Through the Dark Continent at the explorer's own request, and cut it for young readers. The hunger, the fights on the river and the loss of Stanley's white companions are all kept. Its 300 original illustrations have been carefully restored and coloured for this edition.
