"The Moonstone" is a detective novel by English writer Wilkie Collins, first published in 1868. The plot of the book revolves around an ancient Indian gemstone known as the Moonstone, which was stolen and brought to England. The stone ends up in the hands of a young girl, Rachel Verinder, who receives it as a gift for her eighteenth birthday. However, that same night, the jewel disappears from her room, after which an investigation begins.
