In the first of a series of short stories leading up to Brightside, the protagonist, a teenage Joe Nolan, finds himself in a compromising position. Readers learn that from a young age, people in the telepath's life often assume they know just what he wants, when all along it's he who understands their most personal thoughts and desires.
