Weekly columns from the Illustrated London News on anything at hand - phonetic spelling, limericks, running after one's hat, patriotism, the case against the modern. Chesterton wrote the column every week for some thirty years, and this 1908 gathering catches him at his most exuberant. This edition is bound with a gallery of 60 plates of painting, among them works by James McNeill Whistler, George Reid and John Everett Millais, dating from 1840 to 1907.
