When a student at Cambridge university takes possession of a mysterious manuscript, he closes the door on his old life and opens up a dangerous secret that threatens to consume him. Armed with only his knowledge of renaissance art he embarks on a cat and mouse chase that takes him from the deserted precincts of his ancient university to the dim subterranean vaults beneath La Louvre.
