Complete and unabridged, with 24 full-page plates by George Morland, Lionel Bicknell Constable and Horace Vernet. A young guardsman posted to Dublin Castle finds the viceregal court a school of horsemanship, cards and misunderstanding. Lever wrote the military comedies that made his name at this pitch - fast, loud and forgiving. This edition adds a gallery of 24 plates of military painting by Denis Dighton, Aleksander Orłowski and others, alongside 30 illustrations restored and coloured for this edition.
