A guide to modelling British ships and frigates from World War II, featuring a historical overview.
"A handy publication for both historians, modelers, and anyone interested in British warships." – The Northern Mariner
This is the latest in a series that aims to provide modellers with all they need to know about a famous class of warship and associated model kits.
This volume is devoted to the specialist escort vessels developed out of the inter-war sloops that culminated in the superb Black Swan class, as well as the wartime emergency designs – the 'River' , 'Castle' and 'Loch/Bay' classes – designated as frigates. Also included are the American types transferred under Lend-Lease, initially the ex-US Coast Guard 'Lake' class and then the Evarts and Buckley class destroyer escorts that became the RN 'Captains'.
With its unparalleled level of visual information – paint schemes, models, line drawings and photographs – it is simply the best reference for any modelmaker setting out to build any of these ships that played so crucial a role in the Battle of the Atlantic.
