Odysseen

Odysseen er det yngste av de to homeriske heltediktene som innleder hele vår europeiske litteratur. Eposet skildrer Odyssevs' strabasiøse hjemferd fra Troja og hjemkomsten til Ithaka. Handlingen strekker seg bare over 41 dager, men Odyssevs forteller om hva som har skjedd ham under hjemferden som har tatt 10 år. Han har blant annet blitt holdt tilbake av en nymfe, besøkt underverdenen, møtt to kykloper. På Ithaka venter Penelope, hans hustru. Eposet er bygget opp av 24 sanger.
